Full Description:
The Boulder International Hostel has been in operation since 1961, and under the same management for several decades. Its success has allowed it to expand to thirteen buildings, all within four blocks of each other in the University Hill District, giving it about four hundred beds and two hundred fifty rooms. Some of the buildings are leased to long term tenants, but at least four and sometimes all are available to travelers.
Our main office is only two blocks from the western edge of the University of Colorado, and is a leisurely fifteen minute walk from Naropa University. We are surrounded by college age activities and dwellings. Downtown Boulder is only a ten minute walk, and Boulder's bus system is famously on time, cheap, and handy.
The Boulder Hostel has been fortunate for those forty years, able to enjoy its commitment to the lifestyle through the satisfaction of its guests. And these guests come from every continent (yes, including Antarctica if you count scientists recovering from a nine month stay there) and most nations. There is no greater enjoyment than in introducing visitors from Beijing to people from Poland or Nigeria and have them go climbing for the day and seeing real friendships made. Better yet is watching three year olds from China, The Ivory Coast, and Norway carrying on animated conversations with each other in utterly separate languages, happy as clams. We have had Oxford dons who knew J. R. R. Tolkien well, superb musicians with violins made by Stradavarius, and visiting astronomers here for conferences on travel to Mars engage fellow guests in enduring conversation...and some music. We have had travelers back from some of world's trouble spots. We have had honeymooners and scout troops and international biking clubs. And we'd like to have you stay sometime.
