Full Description:
Located in beautiful "South County," Rhode Island, Green Shadows Bed and Breakfast offers modern accommodations with the gentle ambiance of a Cape Cod style home. Designed with a guest's point of view, it was built in 1995 with the specific intention that it be used as a bed and breakfast. The house is set on a wooded and landscaped acre with a view of Green Hill pond, where the sheltered waters are usually calm in the morning and breezy in the afternoon. A spacious screened porch, cooled by ocean breezes and overlooking the private well manicured backyard gardens, is a highlight of the home. You can relax with a cool beverage while the soothing sounds and meanderings of birds, chipmunks and butterflies go on around you.
Choose from one of two bright, spacious and airy guest rooms with king size beds and private modern baths. In the summer, returning beach goers enjoy the outdoor hot shower then relaxing in the backyard on a hammock, lawn chaises or an old fashioned swing. The guest area, entirely located on the first floor is where you'll find the inviting and cozy library/TV room which sits adjacent to the bedrooms. During the evenings enjoy the lighted landscape where the sound of crickets and flash of fireflies in the night sky provide a serene and tranquil setting.
Upstairs your hosts, Don and Mercedes Kratz, will prepare a delicious full breakfast in their professional style kitchen to be enjoyed on the porch. Choose from a menu of fruit juices, fresh seasonal fruit, muffins and scones, eggs to order and varying house specials such as ginger pancakes, crunchy French toast, and souffle apple pancakes. Fresh baked breads and pastries can be savored with a hot cup of coffee or tea. All dishes are served on heirloom china and silverware.
South County has a lot to offer. It's a 10-minute walk to Green Hill Beach, where you'll find miles of sandy shoreline to stroll on and refreshing ocean water. All sorts of boating activities from kayaking to windsurfing are available. If fishing is your thing, take advantage of both the excellent fresh and salt water spots or charter a deep sea boat. Seek out the natural wildlife preserves for secluded hiking trails and bring a bike to enjoy scenic miles of country roads that weave along the shore.
